Finding out the gender of your baby is an exciting moment, whether that happens during pregnancy or in the delivery room. For parents who are choosing to find out the gender of their baby before birth, a new trend is developing: gender reveal parties. Forget about texting or a Facebook status update; these are opportunities for the parents-to-be to share the it’s-a-girl or it’s-a-boy baby news with friends and family in a fun, real-time, face-to-face way.
So, if you plan to find out the sex of your baby before labor sets in, consider these creative ways of revealing your baby’s gender:
Colorful Clothes
Wrap gender-specific pink or blue baby clothes, so when the gift is opened, the guests will discover if the baby is a boy or girl.
Cupcake Creation
Bake cupcakes with a gender-specific colored filling, so when guests take a bite, they will discover the sex of the baby.
Sweet Surprise
Bake a cake, using pink or blue batter, so when the cake is cut, there is a sweet surprise awaiting them.
Balloon Box
Fill a box with inflated balloons. When the lid is lifted, pink or blue balloons float out.
Silly Snacks
Fill a bowl with Snickers, peanut M&Ms or Almond Joys…a.k.a. candies with “boy bits.” For a girl, use Reese’s cups, regular M&Ms or Mounds. Guests must figure out the common (or missing) denominator.
Our site sponsor Lanser’s The Natural Way (who also sponsored this post) now offers party hosting. And, they can do so in a way where even the parents can be surprised. Simply have the ultrasound tech write the gender on a piece of paper and seal it inside an envelope. Then drop off the note at Lanser’s. They will keep your secret safe and plan the big reveal, so even you will be surprised by the big news.
Tell us, when did you (or do you plan to) discover the sex of your baby?
