I-had-no-idea is a phrase we often hear when we talk to women about their pregnancies, labors, deliveries and early motherhood. Here are just a few examples:
“Everything was perfect until about the 3rd trimester when my hips started to spread. It was just uncomfortable. It wasn’t like a terrible pain, but a pillow between my legs was a must. My pelvis spread apart two inches. I had no idea that would happen.” ~ Kristina Horner
“I had no idea what Pitocin was and the nurse told me it would be my friend.” ~ anonymous
“After a few hours, the nurse noticed that things were slowing down a little and she told me it’d probably be good to go walk around the halls to speed things along. So I put on the little mesh underwear they give you with a big pad—I had no idea you start to bleed a little when delivery gets close—and we went for a walk in the halls.” ~ Cameron of Ingenue Mom
“I had no idea how different the recovery would be after a natural childbirth.” ~ Abbie Enlund
“I thought babies, you know, they sleep half the day. How hard could be? I was going to re-paint my living room, while I was home on my maternity leave, and all these other plans, so obviously I had no idea.” ~ Dawn Beery
